Old Farts

Below here is an email attachment that has been forwarded so many times that the original author has probably had it forwarded to them. Any how Here it is. Enjoy! If I could, I'd enlist today and help my country. But, I'm over 50 now and the Armed Forces say I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 35 to join the military. They've got the whole thing backwards. Instead of sending 18-year-olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join until you're at least 35. For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day (what!!! ), leaving us more that 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. If we can't kill the enemy we'll complain them into submission. "My back hurts!" "I'm hungry!" "Where's the remote control?" An 18-year-old hasn't had a legal beer yet and you shouldn't go to war until you're at least old enough to legally drink. An average old guy, on the other hand, has consumed 126,000 gallons of beer by the time he's 35 and a jaunt through the desert heat with a backpack and M-60 would do wonders for the old beer belly. An 18-year-old doesn't like to get up before noon. Old guys get up early to pee. If old guys are captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd probably forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser. Boot camp would actually be easier for old guys. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we actually like soft food. We've also developed a deep appreciation for guns and rifles. We like them almost better than naps. They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after training. I can hear the Drill Sergeant now, "Get down and give me...er...one." And the running part is kind of a waste of energy. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet. An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to actually carry on a conversation, to wear pants without the top of the butt crack showing and the boxer shorts sticking out, to learn that a pierced tongue catches food particles, and that a 200-watt speaker in the back seat of a Honda Accord can rupture an eardrum. All great reasons to keep our sons at home and to learn a little more about life before sending them off to face death. Let us old guys track down those rotten cowards who are murdering and kidnapping any civilians unlucky enough to cross their path. The last thing the enemy would want to see right now is a couple of million old farts with attitudes. Have a fine navy day! ;-)~

Boss 5.4 is gone...

I was not sure when I Purchased my Ford f-150 Boss 5.4 that I would ever sell it. I was sure that I would have it until Niko was old enough to drive it then give it to him. Well It has been sold and replaced with a 2001 Ford Excursion Limited 4X4 V10. It has all of the creature comforts that you could possibly ask for.

Why bother?

About three months ago I was working my regular shift (2200 to 0600) at BEQ 634, at about 0230 I recieved a call from one of the students that lived there... all names but mine have been changed. 1 Beq 634 this is petty officer Moss how may I help you sir or maam? 2 AE2 this is seaman Smith my two friends and I were at this club and one of them drank too much.... 1 You need to get him back here and make sure you don't cause any trouble! 2 Well the problem is, We called a cab and after an hour he showed up we got in and Johnson (the drunk one) threw-up three times and he kicked us out of his cab. 1 So call another cab and get back here. 2 I have called four cabs but the last guy dropped us off on the side of the street and and there is nothing around and I dont know where to tell them where we are at! We need some help. 1 Well where were you at when you got in the cab? 2 Wisconsin... 1 Are you kidding me? I was going to tell you to just walk back, but it would take you until noon to make it back from there. 2 I know. So to make a long story short I talked to him found out what bar they started out at and which street they most likely took to start their journey back and went to go find them. About an hour or so later I found them and brought them back. Helped them get to their rooms and since they were to be graduating in the morning, I went and woke them up, made sure that they got ready to go graduate. All of this is more than I had to do, but for some reason I did it. I am not sure why, I usually dont even care that much. Maybe it was the desperation in his voice on the phone, maybe I was just in a good mood, maybe I did not want to see some good kids get in trouble when they did not need to. I am not sure. So why am I bringing this up three months later? I was making my rounds through the lounge tonight and one of the students stopped me to tell me that his friend had wrote him a letter from his ship. He wanted him to find me (luckily I work here where he lives) and thank me for all that I did than night. He wrote that he thinks that that night he may have been the end of his naval service. (the possibilities of what could have happened that night are endless) He just wanted to let me know that I saved his life! I guess that is how he saw it. I told the friend to tell him that he was welcome, maybe some day he will be able to do the same for some one else some time. I guess that my boy scout training helped some in this guys time of need. Scout Oath- On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
